Strengthening Hosting UK’s Core Infrastructure

Hosting UK Datacentre

As part of our continued investment in the Hosting UK platform, we are expanding and enhancing our infrastructure within our Maidenhead data centre. This investment underpins our Shared Hosting, VPS and Dedicated Server services and provides a stronger, more resilient foundation for current and future workloads.

The facility is operated by iomart and represents a significant upgrade in capability and operational depth.

Network connectivity and performance

The Maidenhead data centre sits within one of the UK’s most densely connected network locations, with direct access to major UK and European carriers, peering exchanges and private interconnects.

Key network characteristics include:

  • Multi terabit core capacity with high speed fibre backbones
  • 10Gbps, 25Gbps and 100Gbps interconnects available at the aggregation and core layers
  • Diverse carrier routing with automatic failover paths
  • Low latency connectivity to London, the wider UK and mainland Europe

For Hosting UK customers, this delivers more consistent throughput, reduced packet loss under load, and improved performance for latency sensitive applications.

24 hour on site NOC and support presence

The Maidenhead facility benefits from a permanent 24 hour Network Operations Centre presence, with engineering and support teams on site at all times.

This enables:

  • Immediate response to hardware or network events
  • Faster fault isolation and resolution
  • Direct hands on intervention without third party dependency

For Dedicated Server and VPS customers, this significantly reduces mean time to resolution during incidents.

Extensive on site spares and rapid replacement

A large on site spares repository is maintained within the facility, covering common server components, networking hardware and critical infrastructure parts.

This allows for:

  • Rapid hardware replacement in the event of failure
  • Reduced dependency on courier based parts delivery
  • Improved service continuity for hardware backed platforms

This is particularly important for high utilisation workloads and business critical services.

Resilience, power and platform headroom

The Maidenhead environment is designed for high availability hosting, with:

  • Multiple independent power feeds
  • N+1 and greater redundancy across critical systems
  • Modern cooling and environmental management

Combined with greater physical capacity and density support, this gives Hosting UK the flexibility to deploy newer hardware platforms and scale services without constraint.

Built for the next phase of Hosting UK

This investment ensures Hosting UK continues to operate on a well connected, resilient and operationally mature platform. It supports higher performance today while enabling future service evolution as customer requirements grow.

Further technical updates will be shared as the platform continues to develop. But great news for all our customers.
